On Saturday September 14, 2002, Drs. Joyce
Rademacher and Leslie Patterson held meetings with mentors and mentees from the
IMPACT program. This program supports alternative certification for individuals
with a four year degree who are interested in teaching Special Education.
The program was developed by UNT faculty and
representatives from local school districts. Dr. Rademacher and Lyndal Bullock
received funding from the Texas Education Agency to develop the program in
response to a state need for qualified special education teachers. Approximately
50 mentors attended the meeting with their mentees.
